Prophecies was the only chapter when I created my Ranger, Warrior, Elementalist, and Monk. All went all the way through. Our guild had a program for a while where the game was to start a new character in Pre and then the group went right through as if it was the old days. No getting plat out of the storage allowed! No elite weapons kicked over from other characters!
These days I think players miss a lot by taking all the shortcuts. Getting there is all the fun, really. Once you are "there" the fun is over.

Millions? lol Nowhere near. And you can't do EVERY quest unless you do the campaigns with more than one character because of forking quest chains and profession-specific chains.
I have only finished all storylines on one character. I am enjoying repeating them with a couple of other characters, and will then look at rolling characters of other classes I want to try.
Furthermore, even with the story finished, there is still content left for me to do, since I haven't done most of the challenge missions or elite areas yet, and there are armor sets I'm saving up to get. There are also many titles left to work on. I've made progress on some of the achievement titles (Legendary Cartographer and Legendary Skill Hunter are done), but have a long way yet to go.
And, even if all that were over and done, there is still farming to learn so I can make those millions of which you speak.

I don't know, really. After the second time presear is boring. Pretty, but boring. And post-sear Ascalon isn't the prettiest thing to look at, either. I find I tend to rush through certain areas faster than others: I've never bothered tarrying all that long in Ascalon (barring my first character). Well, not until recently. I've picked up a habit of being very touristy and screenshotting as I go along. Ascalon has terrible scenery on the ground, unless you like the apocalyptic look, but it's got terrific skies. And I didn't even notice that until I started looking around for things to snap.
It wasn't even about getting there, because I'm not that fond of Ascalon in general, and if I wanted to 'get there' I know I'd be hopping through Ascalon quite fast. (I'd take my time in Kryta and Maguuma and the Crystal Desert, though.) After a while, when you've done something, you kind of want to take the shortcut, especially if you're not that fond of the area.

Beating it does not mean you finished it. Did you do EVERY quest/mission in those 27 hours? I doubt it. Anyone can rush through any game and claim they beat it, but, that never means they finished it. I can beat Prop in a few hours now cause of the many loop holes to the finish, but, hardly complete it in the same amount of time.
This is also why games like Oblivion, Morrowind and Daggerfall are so popular, while they do have a storyline that you can BEAT, you are NEVER FINISHED because it has unlimited adventures and quests and missions, UNLIKE GW which has a handful of the same ole repeatable missions. DAGGERFALL is the BEST RPG game ever made because it has 150,000 square miles of map and unlimited adventures where even the stuff in the same dungeon isn't the same everytime you go to them.

No, never. Especially not these days. Getting heroes at level 10 is just too nice to not get.

You can finish all the campaigns + EoTN in 3 days or less and you can do it casually. Of course everyone has a different definition of "casual" but the fact is there isn't a lot of content to go through story wise. If you already know what you are doing it's pretty easy and straight forward.

So i made a W/Mo and I currently in Prof (Pre for the winner) and I am going to follow this campaign story line from beginning to end, i was just wondering if people have ever actually completed A whole Campaign WITHOUT going off and activating other campaigns by doing the required Elona, EOTN or Factions missions at the main Port city for what ever campaign.
if you have what was it like?
do you find that if you do p[rof then factions then NF and then EOTN that the story lines all mesh they all follow eachother?
|
Heh, we have the same mains - my main characters are also a D/Mo and A/R (as well as an Me/E).
But no, I've yet to finish any of the campaigns. And I certainly haven't done so while keeping a character in their native campaigns. All three of my main characters have visited all of the campaigns, and I'm currently using my D/Mo to run through Prophecies.

Pretty much this, if you have all campaigns any new characters should get heroes asap as they make things much easier. Although after getting a small variety I usually go through whatever original campaign they were made in (or make a detour then finish it if I try and get something specific, like a prestige armor vendor that's in some other campaign halfway through).

I never had the patience to complete a whole campaign on one character, until after I started 4-5 characters and bought all 4 games. It got to the point that I was thinking, why the heck don't I try to actually finish something. Well, I finally did with my Rt in Factions. After that I thought, hey, why not try to get some other titles. Well, I went back to one of my original toons and started that process, after deleting and restarting toons a few times. I guess I just needed chaos to point me in the direction of control.

Well, when my main (and my first character) first played through, there was only prophs. So I finished that pre to lich. Then factions came out so I finished that start to finish. Then did nightfall start to end then eotn start to end.
Course inbetween, while waiting for new campaigns, played other characters. Finished campaigns with them though it was pretty much only the absolute necessary missions and ignored all the sidequests that didn't give skills/faction/heroes/trade contracts. Nowadays, I wouldn't play straight through since I've been there and done that, but if it's your first time through I'd recommend you do so. Though I'd take time out and go to nightfall or eotn and pick up some heroes, they're just too useful to ignore.

Pretty much the same as everyone else who's played since Proph. My three Proph characters (not including my young permapre) all went through Prophecies before Factions was released.
When Factions was released, I played through Shing Jea with a Factions character, but once I got to the point where the Prophecies characters arrived I flipped over to my Warrior and had her go through - I wanted to replace her scanty Gladiator's armour (I needed the energy at the time, and that was when Prophecies armour art was still bound to appearance) with 15k Canthan.
When Nightfall came out, I made a Paragon and went... almost straight through - she made a quick visit to Cantha to finish leveling to 20 before the assault on Gandara. By the time EOTN came out, many of my characters had done all three of the others, and one of them stormed through EOTN...
...and had the book update right after turning it in. Fortunately, I was still able to buy pages.

got the game 3+ years ago---there was only one story line to follow, when factions came out all of my tyrians were finished with prophecies so they did all of factions. With nightfall I think I did most of it with my paragon though she did do the get olias quest....made it to tormented areas before I stopped with her and went to factions for quick quests/money.
Since nightfall came out no, I have not.....and the 2nd question...what millions?? I have characters still working on armor and skills! (though after all the quests etc I would finish up titles like cartographer and prot).

I've been playing for just over a year and my main character has yet to finish a single campaign. She's a bit ADD like that, I guess. I have more fun running her through the various landscapes than playing through missions most of the time, and when you hit that ONE quest that for some reason you're having trouble beating, it's nice to continent-hop and do something else for a while to clear your head!
